A fairytale based on the novel by Alexander Volkov
The Wizard of Emerald City is the story of a journey, both as an adventure and as a search for oneself. After all, we know from the get-go that the Lumberjack is good, that the Scarecrow is smart, that the Lion is courageous and that Ellie can go back to Kansas in her slippers even without magic. But in order to reach your dreams, to become who you want to be, you must traverse the difficult path of discovery hand in hand with your friends, make it through many challenges, lose faith and then believe once again. Only then will you be worthy of yourself. And even the Great and Powerful Goodwin, the impostor on the throne, will turn out to be a real wizard – not a magician or charlatan like the four witches, but a great artist who can make audiences believe in miracles.
Alexander Volkov’s fairytale is a family favorite. Those who read it in the mid-20th century now read it to their younger siblings, nieces and nephews, children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. This cherished book is passed down from generation to generation and remains just as popular as ever.
